Twinned Amethyst Quartz and Scepter

Twinned Amethyst Quartz and Scepter

SKU: 0950

Dimensions: 3.2 x 2.8 x 6.1cm

Locality: Marovoalavo, Andilamena, Madagascar

The Andilamena quarries in the Andranotokana massif became renowned in the early 2000s for their Japanese twinned quartz. Around 2011, the Marovoalavo mine yielded an even rarer variety: amethyst scepters, sometimes twinned and often sprinkled with goethite. This particular specimen is quite large: 6.1 cm high, well beyond the usual thumbnail size. The scepter-like sections, distinctly amethyst and very luminous, provide a striking contrast. The small, shiny black goethites on the surface also add considerable aesthetic appeal. A remarkable and harmonious crystallographic piece, rare in this quality, and magnificent in a display case.
An exceptional and spectacular piece for this great Malagasy classic.

Dimensions without the acrylic base, which is supplied with the mineralogical specimen.

The mineral is not glued to the base (flexible sealant).
