Twinned Amethyst Quartz and Scepter

The Andilamena quarries in the Andranotokana Massif came to prominence in the early 2000s for their Japan-law twinned quartz. Around 2011, the Marovoalavo mine produced an even rarer habit: amethyst scepters, sometimes twinned and often dusted with goethite.
This specimen combines both hallmarks of the locality — twin and scepter — on a single piece, with small sparkling black goethites on the surface. At 13.3 cm tall, it stands apart from the usual scale: most Marovoalavo scepter–twin combinations remain thumbnails or small miniatures of 2 to 7 cm. The faintly amethystine tips highlight the sceptered portions and give the specimen a very fine aesthetic.
An exceptional and spectacular example of this great Malagasy classic.
