Quartz - Amazonite (Microcline)
Dimensions: 4.3 x 3.2 x 7.6cm
Location: Crystal Peak, Teller County, Colorado, USA
A classic in collections, this combination of Pikes Peak (specifically Crystal Peak) quartz and amazonite is increasingly sought after by collectors, especially when the quartz is flawless, as is the case here. The quartz faces exhibit a beautiful luster, despite the crystal being a deep black with aesthetically pleasing growth lines on all sides, 360°. The amazonite crystals at the base of the quartz are beautifully colored, and the overall arrangement is very harmonious. It is no surprise that this excellent specimen comes from the Paolo Martinotti collection, a specialized and highly regarded collection of quartz. Unlike many pieces, this one has not undergone restoration; the microclines (amazonite) were stabilized during extraction.
Dimensions without the acrylic base, which is supplied with the mineralogical specimen.
The mineral is not glued to the base.
