Kunzite (var. Spoduméne) Quartz, Orthoclase
Dimensions: 8.6 x 6.2 x 9.8cm
Location: Paprok, Kamdesh District, Nuristan, Afghanistan
While matrix-free Kunzite crystals are relatively common on the market, the same cannot be said for fine matrix-bound specimens. Although we specialize in Pakistan and Afghanistan, we have acquired very few specimens over the last thirty years, and even matrix-bound specimens too often exhibit defects (cleavage or incomplete crystals) and rarely have an aesthetically pleasing presentation. This Kunzite crystal is perfect, measuring 4.2 cm in length with a beautiful, gem-quality color and no cleavage whatsoever. Pleochroism is clearly present, with the violet color intensifying depending on the orientation. A remarkable piece for any collection.
Dimensions without the acrylic base, which is supplied with the mineralogical specimen.
The mineral is not glued to the base (flexible sealant).
